Special Screening of KÎZÎM at Happy Cinema Colosseum

Special Screening of KÎZÎM at Happy Cinema Colosseum – February 28, 5:00 PM

On February 28, film lovers in Bucharest are invited to a special screening of the feature film KÎZÎM, directed by Radu Potcoavă, taking place at Happy Cinema Colosseum at 5:00 PM, in the presence of the film’s team.

A Story About Two Families and Two Mindsets

The film follows the journey of Selda (Meryem Yeliz Mustafa), a teenager caught between her desire for freedom and the traditions of the Tatar community she belongs to. Her parents, Aynur (Elias Ferchin Musuret) and Ghiulfer (Turchian Güzin Nasurla), forbid her from spending time with her Romanian friends and from pursuing a relationship with Tudor (Matei Saizescu), the boy she loves.

A trip to Vama Veche and an unfortunate incident spark a powerful conflict that tests not only the relationship between the two teenagers, but also the fragile balance between their families.

In contrast, Tudor’s parents — Adi (Tudor Chirilă), a modern and easygoing father, and Cristina (Judith State), energetic and protective — believe in open communication and trusting their children. However, when things spiral out of control, both families are forced to confront their own limits and prejudices.

A Young Team, An Authentic Story

Filmed in Vama Veche, Constanța, and Bucharest, KÎZÎM brings together established actors and promising young talents.

Meryem Yeliz Mustafa makes her feature film debut in a leading role, delivering a natural and compelling performance. Elias Ferchin Musuret and Turchian Güzin Nasurla portray, for the first time in Romanian cinema, a Tatar couple on screen, alongside other Tatar actors from different generations.

The cast also includes Matei Saizescu, Tudor Chirilă, Judith State, Amuly, Bogdan Farcaș, Marian Capotă, and Gabriela Valentir.

Director Radu Potcoavă (“Băieții buni ajung în Rai,” “Vara s-a sfârșit,” “Cuscrii”) returns to his favorite genre — coming-of-age — with a contemporary story about identity, belonging, and the need for dialogue between generations.

Meet the Filmmakers

The screening at Happy Cinema Colosseum will be followed by a discussion with members of the film’s team:
Yeliz Mustafa, Matei Saizescu, Luca Fieraru, Milan Palade, Anastasia Udrea, Elias Ferchin, and director Radu Potcoavă.

It will be a rare opportunity to engage directly with the people who brought this story to the big screen.
